AA/AAA Batteries

AA Alkaline batteries are the most common type of AA battery. They are pre-charged, and are rated at 1.5 Volt. In most applications an AA Alkaline batteries will last up to five times longer than a low-cost inexpensive AA Zinc batteries.

AA Zinc batteries offer a cheap source of power for very low drain devices, such as TV remote controls or basic radios.

AA Lithium batteries are premium AA battery types. They are also pre-charged, and also rated at 1.5 Volt. This type of AA battery is especially suited for electronic applications such as digital cameras, where a steady voltage is essential to maintain optimum performance. In such applications AA Lithium batteries will last much longer than an Alkaline or Zinc AA battery.

AA rechargeable batteries have one obvious advantage over the other AA batteries. When you've used them, you don't throw them away, but you simply recharge them. For heavy uses, recharging is a lot cheaper than buying new batteries. AA rechargeable batteries don't however maintain their charge as well as alkaline or lithium batteries over long periods of storage, and operate at a slightly lower voltage of 1.2V.
